The Asia-Pacific Circular City Forum (APCC), organized by the City of Yokohama, was held at Pacifico Yokohama from 2-4 September 2026. Oddy Angelo, Human Settlements Officer, was among keynote presenters at a seminar co-hosted by the City of Yokohama and CITYNET, titled “Practical Approaches Toward Zero-Waste Cities: Actionable Circularity and Zero Waste: Scaling through Resilience ‘

Additionally, a poster exhibition featuring participating organizations, local governments, universities, and civic groups was held at a separate venue, where UN-Habitat also displayed a poster showcasing its activities.

Ms. Taguchi, Coordinating Officer, delivered outreach lectures to 38 second-year and 38 third-year students in the International Education Course at Fukuoka Girls’ High School, conducting two class sessions for each grade.

During the lectures, students learned about the work of UN-Habitat and various efforts being undertaken to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In the workshop for second-year students, participants took part in a workshop on village reconstruction and community planning, where they worked in groups to discuss their ideas and give presentations. In the workshop for third-year students, each group considered actions that could contribute to achieving the SDGs and shared their ideas with the class.

The presentations, prepared using tablets, demonstrated the creativity and diverse perspectives of every group. We hope that this outreach program provided students with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of and interest in international cooperation and the SDGs.

Our sincere thanks to all the students who participated and to the school staff for their support and cooperation.
