Ms. Ishigaki took the floor when the Executive Board discussed Agenda Item 8 “Normative and operational activities of UN-Habitat .“  She introduced projects in the Philippines where UN-Habitat is implementing a wide range of activities, from hard to soft, including post-disaster rehabilitation of housing, solid waste management and marine plastic pollution reduction, and SDGs review at various levels, such as the state, city, and community levels.

The Executive Board of UN-Habitat convenes its third session for 2025 from 25 to 26 November at the UN-Habitat headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.

Ms. Ishigaki attends the meeting as the Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific. 

H.E. Mr. César Augusto Montaño Huerta, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ecuador to Japan, visited UN-Habitat ROAP and had a meeting with Ms. Ishigaki and staff members. Ecuador will host the next International Mayors Forum, which was held in Toyota City this October. The year 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III), where the “New Urban Agenda” was adopted in Quito, Ecuador in 2016. It is a great pleasure for UN-Habitat that, in this milestone year, the International Mayors Forum, which focused on discussing the future of cities, will be held in Ecuador, the host country of Habitat III. Looking ahead to the 2026 International Mayors Forum, they discussed potential areas of collaboration between UN-Habitat ROAP and the Embassy of Ecuador in Japan.

Ms. Ishigaki visited Mr. Christoph Pusch, the newly appointed Program Manager at the World Bank Tokyo Development Learning Center (TDLC). During the meeting, Ms. Ishigaki briefed UN-Habitat’s activities. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration between UN-Habitat ROAP and World Bank TDLC and discussed potential areas of cooperation in the field of sustainable urban development.
