UN-Habitat Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific will convene a strategic meeting from 28-30 January 2026, inviting 15 Heads of Country Offices to Fukuoka. The meeting will develop implementation plan at regional and country level to implement the UN-Habitat Strategic Plan 2026-2029, adopted by the UN-Habitat Assembly in May 2025. Ms. Ishigaki opened the meeting by explaining the objectives to the participants; and lively discussions are expected to take place among participants over the three days.

Ms. Ishigaki; Mr. Popuri, Chief of Bangkok Programme Office; and Ms. Loose, Country Programme Manager of Afghanistan Office attended the 62nd UN Associations Award Recipients Celebration hosted by the Fukuoka Prefectural Headquarters of the United Nations Association of Japan. Mr. Tadamichi Yamamoto (fourth from the right), who served as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan from June 2016 to March 2020, was in attendance as a guest, and UN-Habitat delegation had a meaningful exchange of views.

Ms. Ishigaki delivered a lecture at the 2909th regular meeting of the Fukuoka Josei Rotary Club regarding “The Activities and Future Perspectives of UN-Habitat Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.”

Speaking to 106 participants, she introduced UN-Habitat’s reconstruction projects through People’s Process in Asia and the Pacific, as well as its activities in Fukuoka and across Japan. She also shared the significance of having the UN regional office in Fukuoka and emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration with UN-Habitat as a close partner.
