The building sector is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, especially in the Asia-Pacific region, where rapid urbanization places significant pressure on the built environment. To address this, UN-Habitat’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) is launching a Green Buildings Programme to accelerate decarbonization. With a regional focus, the Asia-Pacific Programme on Green Buildings aims to support countries in adopting green building practices that reduce emissions and foster resilience. The initiative focuses on energy efficiency, sustainable materials, and resilient urban design to foster climate action and sustainable development.
