The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) promotes sustainable urban development toward the achievement of SDG Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. The Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP), established in Fukuoka in 1997, leads initiatives in 15 country offices and around 300 staff members working on various projects in partnership with national governments in Asia and the Pacific Region.

As cities in Asia and the Pacific Region face growing challenges such as housing shortages, infrastructure gaps, and climate change, UN-Habitat ROAP established the Tokyo Platform for Sustainable Cities in Asia and the Pacific as a collaborative platform bringing together the private sector, government, academia, and civil society organizations interested in promoting sustainable urban development through a series of seminars held in Tokyo and Fukuoka.

The Third Tokyo Platform Network Seminar will feature two panel sessions focusing on technical collaboration between UN-Habitat and Japanese companies. In addition, a special panel in preparation for GREEN×EXPO 2027, titled “Green Urban Development,” will bring together experts to discuss innovative approaches to sustainable urban development. The seminar will also include an interactive Co-Creation Network Session, conducted in a World Café format. This session will offer participants the opportunity to exchange perspectives on urban challenges and needs, while exploring new avenues for collaboration and co-creation.
