On 24 March 2025, Ms. Ishigaki attended the Fukuoka Flower Show Pre-Event Symposium and delivered a presentation on UN-Habitat initiatives, emphasizing how flowers can be an element contributing to many Sustainable Development Goals. She is looking forward to the success of coming Fukuoka Flower Show and UN Habitat ROAP stands ready to support the Show.

On 24 March 2025, Ms. Ishigaki attended the Board Meeting of Soroptimist International of the Americas, Japan Minami Region, and explained recent activities of the ROAP and the planned establishment of the platform. She also discussed with them on further strengthening collaboration in women’s empowerment and education in Kyusyu Region. She believes that female leadership is critical in not only Japan but also Asia and the Pacific.

Ms. Ishigaki visited Dr. Tshilidzi Marwala, Rector of the United Nations University and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, and exchanged opinions on future collaboration with ROAP, especially in relation with TICAD9 and SDG education.

UN-Habitat attended the 7th Spatial PlanningPlatform meeting (online) organized by MLIT, Government of Japan, where 68 practitioners from more than 8 countries participated for mutual learning. As the Regional Director, Ms. Ishigaki briefed UN-Habitat’s draft Strategic Plan while representatives from Japan, Cambodia, Nepal and Lao PDR provided challenges and policies on housing, land and basic services as a part of regional consultation; Japan shared the outcome at Executive Board Meeting held in March 2025 to contribute to the discussion on the draft Strategic Plan.

Ms. Ishigaki visited Dr. Hiroto Izumi, Executive Counselor of the Building Center of Japan. 

She introduced an overview of UN-Habitat’s activities and exchanged opinions regarding his planned visit to UNH Headquarters at Nairobi.

Ms. Ishigaki visited RKB MAINICHI BROADCASTING CORP. and appeared live as a guest speaker on “Tadaima.”

As 8 March marks “International Women’s Day” established by the United Nations, she shared her views on creating a more inclusive society for women, drawing on UN-Habitat’s initiatives for women-friendly urban development as well as her experiences as a female manager.

Ms. Ishigaki visited RKB MAINICHI BROADCASTING CORP. to appear on the TV program” Ikejiri Wakako no Tokowaka”.

She introduced the activities of the UN-Habitat Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Fukuoka and how Japanese can contribute to the achievement of SDGs.
