Report of the Second Cambodia Urban and Housing Forum to promote Smart, Green, Resilient, and Inclusive Cities

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC), in collaboration with the World Bank and UN-Habitat, hosted the Second Cambodia Urban and Housing Forum on 30-31 May 2024 in Phnom Penh. With the theme “Smart, Green, Resilient, and Inclusive Cities,” the Forum attracted over 200 participants, including government officials, international experts, and representatives from academia, the private sector, and civil society.

The report summarizes insightful dialogues on the challenges and experiences related to urban and housing development. It also captures messages of notable speakers, such as H.E. Say Samal, Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, and Mr. Joseph Scheuer, Resident Coordinator of the UN, emphasized the importance of sustainable urban planning and the integration of innovative ideas to achieve inclusive and resilient urban environments.

Key outcomes included a commitment to proactive urban planning, the development of master plans for sustainable spatial growth, and the promotion of public-private partnerships to address housing and urban development challenges. Overall, the forum underscored the critical role of stakeholder collaboration in creating livable, sustainable cities for all.
