Ms. Ishigaki attended the ASEAN sustainable Urbanization Forum, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She delivered remarks to provide updates on UN-Habitat’s work and strategic direction, including the new Strategic Plan 2026-2029.

Ms. Ishigaki had a meeting with Mr. Norio Saito, Senior Sector Director, ADB. She discussed our support in Asian countries and potential future collaboration.

Ms. Ishigaki had a meeting with Mr. Samed Ağırbaş, President, Zero Waste Foundation (ZWF), Türkiye. She discussed strengthening the collaboration through advocacy, awareness-raising, and capacity-building initiatives for sustainable waste management.

Ms. Ishigaki had a meeting with H. E. Mr Nga Kor Ming, Minister, KPKT. She congratulated Malaysia for its 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship and discussed ongoing projects under the ASEAN Sustainable Urbanisation Strategy (ASUS) and the possibility of further collaboration.

Ms. Ishigaki had a meeting with H.E. Mr Vorin Sor, Under Secretary of State Ministry of Interior, Under Secretary of State and Cambodia ASEAN Smart City Network (ASCN) Representative. UN-Habitat is supporting Cambodia, mainly in the areas of people-centered smart city development, solid waste management, and climate change adaptation.

Ms. Ishigaki had a meeting with Mr. Philip Yang, Special Envoy on Urban Solutions, COP 30. Both examined challenges and potential collaboration opportunities concerning the link between climate and urban development ahead of COP30.

Ms. Ishigaki had a meeting with Dr. Maimunah binti Mohd Sharif, Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL). Ms. Ishigaki congratulated Kuala Lumpur on hosting the ASEAN Sustainable Urbanisation Forum and discussed further collaboration with UN-Habitat and Kuala Lumpur.　Dr. Sharif is the former Executive Director of UN-Habitat.

Ms. Ishigaki had a meeting with H.E. Nararya Sanggramawijaya Soeprapto, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs. Both confirmed the strategic alignment between UN-Habitat’s Strategic Plan and the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, and discussed further collaboration opportunity between ASEAN and UN-Habitat.

Ms. Ishigaki had a meeting with Ms. Lara Franzen, Counsellor, Australian Mission to ASEAN. She discussed the implementation of ASEAN Sustainable Urbanisation Strategy (ASUS) and the continued and further collaboration between UN-Habitat and Australia with ASEAN context.

Mr. Atsushi Naruse, Mayor of Kota Town, Aichi Prefecture, visited UN-Habitat ROAP.

At WUF12 held in Cairo, Egypt in November 2024, Mayor kindly presented a video message.  We discussed ways to continue and further strengthen our exchanges.
