Ms. Ishigaki visited Mr. Kazuhiro Ikebe, Chairman of the Kyushu Economic Federation, to introduce the activities of UN-Habitat. They exchanged views on the possibility of further strengthening collaboration with companies and organizations in Kyushu.

Ms. Ishigaki was invited by Panasonic Group to attend a concert by the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra.

Panasonic has been a longstanding supporter of UN-Habitat since 2003 and has contributed to the “Water for Life” project.

Ms. Ishigaki visited Mr. Kentaro Doi, Vice-Minister for Global Environmental Affairs at the Ministry of the Environment, and briefed an overview of UN-Habitat’s mission and activities.

The Ministry of the Environment and the UN-Habitat has been cooperating in the field of Solid Waste Management, particularly in Africa as part of African Clean Cities Platform. Ms. Ishigaki discussed with the Vice Minister over the opportunity for further collaboration in the Asia-Pacific region.

Mr. Muslim Qazimi, Head of the UN-Habitat Iraq and Yemen Office, and Mr. Ryosuke Teraoka, Head of Kurdistan Region of Iraq Office, visited our office and shared updates on UN-Habitat’s activities in Iraq, including  public-private partnership for reconstruction called “Japan Village Project.”

ROAP is working to match the technologies of Japanese companies and the needs of developing countries and is pleased at the possibility of further supporting the initiatives of Iraq Office.
